Sea Helper was a dream of mine to help inspire and show people that you can regrow yourself no matter what comes your way, just like a starfish does. Let me take a moment to introduce myself; my name is Sean Hodinko, and I went on a journey to discover what my passions were. In doing so always came back to the theme that I wanted to help marine animals, empower / inspire people and decorate sustainable clothing. I was first introduced to the concept of sustainable clothing while on a family trip to the Bahamas. There was this boutique shop which had bamboo clothing. I was amazed how soft bamboo was and also the hypoallergenic properties, UV resistant, naturally moisture wicking and light weight, that I wanted to share this treasure with all of you! Were you aware that bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants on earth?!
I am a 2003 graduate of McDowell High School, upon completion of high school I opted out of college route to go to the workforce and the family business. I wanted to become a marine biologist and marine animal trainer while growing up but there was a huge need at the family business that I had been working at since age 14. In high school I started making t-shirts for my classmates and grew the business large enough to add it as an additional service to the printing business. I would always design and fulfill the orders of the customers but always had a dream to start my own brand!
Growing up I spent many winters and spring breaks going Vero Beach, Florida which is a known turtle nesting shore and this was my first introduction to the Atlantic Ocean. While visiting my "snow bird" Grandparents I would always spend endless hours playing on the beach looking for nests or any signs of turtle tracks. One trip the family took to the Caribbean I finally encountered my first wild green sea turtle while snorkeling and it was one of the most memorable snorkels to date! Other incredible experiences have been encountering manatees, swimming with the dolphins, sharks several times, stingrays and many other species.
